The Cannonsburg Challenged Ski Association (CCSA) is a non-profit organization located in Ada, Michigan, that was established in the early 1980's to offer individuals with disabilities the opportunity to participate in winter activities. CCSA started with only ten students, one outrigger, a bamboo pole and one sit ski, and has now evolved over the years into an organization serving more than 100 students.

What is adaptive skiing?

The adaptation of sports, whether on a recreational or competitive level, is to offer the activity, as close to its' original counterpart as possible. Through CCSA, children and adults with a wide range of physical and developmental disabilities can enjoy the thrill and challenge of skiing. Students are able to meet their physical, emotional, social and cognitive goals in addition to gaining the confidence necessary to succeed in every day life. For more information, check out the techniques and equipment page.

Board of Directors

A volunteer Board of Directors governs CCSA. These directors are dedicated individuals whose expertise lends to the organization's vitality. Board meetings are held monthly and there is an annual meeting open to all staff, volunteers, members and participants held in the fall to celebrate the organizations successes for the season.
